DESCRIPTION:The Basic Risk Communication Workshop teaches the fundamentals of risk and crisis communications,and provides a tabletop exercise focused on public information that allows participants to apply their skills. It provides information on writing for the news media and when and how to organize a news conference, and defines the tools of effective public information.This is a Florida Department of Health course.AUDIENCE:This training is useful for public information officers from health and other disciplines, employees who supervise public information officers, subject matter experts who provide news interviews and health incident command staff who work alongside the public information officer in an incident.Public Information Liason staff working PODs (Points of Dispensing) and other responders will also benefit from this training.LOCATION:MCSO Aviation Hanger 10100 Overseas HighwayMile Marker 52.4Marathon, FL 33050**Located north of the Airport terminal, the hangar has a large Sheriff's Star visible from the highway. Before any federal dollars can begin flowing, a Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment must be conducted with Local, State and Federal team members.
