DESCRIPTION:

The WMD Hands-On Training (8-hour) course is an eight-hour course that provides the responder with hands-on practical exercises that give the responder the ability to perform triage and decontamination procedures, classify residual contamination through the use of survey and monitoring equipment, and conduct scene survey and safety. As part of the eight contact hours for this course, the responder performs hazardous materials technician operations at a toxic agent training facility.

The Law Enforcement Protective Measures (8-hour) course is an one-day training course providing seminars in the terrorist threat and indicators of terrorist activity, targets of terrorist activity and tactics used by terrorists, prevention and deterrence techniques, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, or Explosive (CBRNE) hazards, protective measures, appropriate response actions, and the Incident Command System (ICS).


The WMD Law Enforcement Response Actions course is an one-day training course providing hands-on training in surveying and monitoring, decontamination and triage procedures, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and scene survey and safety.

These three classes are part of a series and given over 3 days. All three classes must be taken. Travel days are Nov 1st and Nov 5th.

All costs are paid for by CDP. (airfare, transportation to/from Atlanta, lodging and meals)

 PER 243-Personal Radiation Detection  
Monday, November 02, 2009

DESCRIPTION:

The goal of this live agent operations course is to become operationally proficient with the functionality of the Rad-Eye radiation detector and the role of this equipment in field radiation detection tactics. This course utilizes low level, sealed radiation sources in a controlled environment and complies with ANSI N 42. 37-2006 the American National Standard for Training Requirements for Homeland Security Purposes Using radiation Detector Instrumentation and Interdiction and Prevention.

THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS COURSE

Course pre-requisite: AWR-140 RAD/NUC Awareness or equivalent, either online or direct delivery. This pre-requisite will be offered as a direct delivery in advance of the main PER 243 course. Contact Mike Geier ( Division of Emergency Management) for more information: 561-712-6366
